Still thankful that God is our constant in all these transfers

my siblings

i have a half brother and a half sister in california. in 2008, i met my half-brother for the first time. he traveled at least 10 hours from LA to meet us at San Francisco. He looks a lot like my father :) Even though it was our first time to be in SanFo, I did not go around that much as my father wanted to spend more time with his son (thank you my dear husband and darling daughter for understanding)

when it was time to leave, my brother walked away from us at the airport without hugging us :( he just turned around abruptly but i saw him crying as he left. my heart was crushed.

my father left his homeland for the 1st time when he was 13 years old. he went back when he was 16, got married and had two children. he never got to see his two children grow up as he returned to the Philippines, made a new life for himself and had a family. the plan at first was to follow his father in San Francisco but papa did not make it to the US until 1970 when he was petitioned by his daughter who had already migrated there. he visited them but declined the petition and return to us in the philippines.

fast forward 40 years later, my mom, sister, and two brothers have migrated to the US although mama is coming home for good this year. papa, doc (my brother the confirmed bachelor) and I are the only ones left here (of course my husband and my daughter are here with us). last week, doc's immigrant visa arrived. he is going at the end of june. he has a very successful medical practice here and i asked him why is he leaving that for the uncertainty there - he said that he does not want to look back later and ask why he didn't even try when there was an opportunity.

i am sooooooo sad

restful sleep

It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating
the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep."
Psalm 127:2 (ESV)

my life is far from perfect, like the waves below, I experience turmoil. I used to rely on my own strength till I surrendered my will to God, it is not easy. I have a lot of prayer requests that are unanswered but in God's perfect time, He will answer it. Probably not all to my liking :) yet, everything according to His will

boracay 2010

sis and family came home to celebrate papa's 90th birthday. we went to boracay afterwards. i wish there was a shorter way going there but since we live in the island across panay, the only available way to travel is by boat AND by land. boat trip takes an hour, it's the land trip that's a killer - about 4 hours :(

dinagyang 2011

change of plans, rj said over the phone. join me here today and let's return home together tomorrow. so that's how we were able to join the dinagyang 2011 at the last minute.

stayed at westown hotel at smallville. KR enjoyed the short stay because of the pool and the slide. she also made friends with some lovely korean girls about her age.

new year celebration

this is the most memorable new year celebration for me. the place is lovely but more importantly, our family is together.

we miss mama and siblings who are in the US :(

celebrating new year

my brothers decided that it was time to break away from tradition and spend new year away from home. doc chose mactan shangrila.

it was a message from a client's daughter, (to whom i didn't even shared my number) asking me what time i'll be in the office as she will file a case. obviously, i didn't answer. having a cellphone does not mean i extended my office hours at home. have some respect please

when it rains it pours part 2

Day2

next day at the airport, the ground personnel was taking a long time to check in the Cat and I. A few minutes later, she said, ummm, i can't find your booking. oh, i think they spelled my family name wrong, that's what happened yesterday from xxx. sorry, she said, i really can't find it. but i'll check the following day's booking.

then.... ma'am, you are booked for the flight tomorrow, not today

what???????? ......ggggggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr this is what happens when you ask your messenger to book your flight,

i ended up purchasing new tickets instead of rebooking, more expensive to do the latter

the flight was delayed... so what else could go wrong....

i spoke too soon, the ride home was bumpy, it's as if the plane was going up and down, although it was just a few seconds, it felt like 10 minutes. the trip home was supposed to take just 30 minutes, it seemed like an eternity

next time, ill take the bus.. wait... the bus ride takes almost 12 hours because it has to travel by ro-ro

what to do????

when it rains it pours part 1

Day 1

while i was about to board the plane, my sec texted me: sorry, forgot to get one document intended for "copy furnish". i gnashed my teeth and in my calmest voice, asked her" so what is my proof of service when i file this? oh that's easy, she said, just leave a copy at the airport. and you're telling me this when i am about to board the plane? i told her when i called instead of texting her.....

oh well, there goes my well laid plans on how i was going to spend my time out of town.....

i had to find a post office in that other city just to comply with proof of service

hope tomorrow is a better day

bone tired

it has been an exhausting two weeks. had to help the former chief face a legal battle. what made the process so tiring was his insistence to put his every two cents worth in each paragraph.

i am tired of this ......... the only reason i couldn't say no to helping was the adage "walang iwanan" but it comes with a hefty price, i felt as if all my energy has been drained from my body

i am just thankful the answer has been submitted... hope for the best, expect the worst

adieu to tina

serendipity is now restricted to invited readers only :(

i'm so disappointed, tina was such a refreshing read

thank you FB

my nieces and nephews are all out of the country. not so long ago we had to be contented with pictures sent thru emails, problem is, my brother and sister are notoriously very "un-asian", meaning, they do not like to take pictures

now that the kids are growing up, they take their own pictures and upload them, and i have become their stalker lol

thanks FB now i get to see them often, even just online

BB cream

have seen ads for BB cream but didn't pay much attention to them till one time i was in line at watson's cashier and out of curiosity picked up a tube of maybelline BB cream. i got excited because it promised to do wonders for my skin aside from having uv protection. i was getting tired of piling foundation on top of my sunblock but I find the cream too thin and I am not sure if this will really protect my skin from the sun's harmful effects.

Went to Face Shop the other day looking for a moisturizer for RJ and found they have plenty of BB creams - radiance, blemish cover, .... i decided on the radiance because its P300 cheaper than the blemish cover.

I like the Face Shop BB cream, i don't even need to put on foundation and it seems i now have the complexion of a korean actress :)
