langub, sipalay

don't be a stranger to our very own island.

i had heard a lot about langub beach, sipalay, negros occidental but i haven't had the chance to visit it. i am probably among the remnants of those who haven't. *heheheh*

early this month we had the opportunity to finally go to this heavenly place. it was a long drive but curiously, i didn't feel tired at all considering that i slept very late and woke up very early (7am is early on a saturday morning!!) maybe it was the anticipation of being finally able to see that place that i have been hearing from a lot of people.

we took two vehicles and the kids rode with us planning to watch "game plan" along the way, but somewhere between pontevedra and hinigaran, everything became quiet at the back, the three kids finally succumbed to lalalaland.

we arrived at sipalay around 11:30 and decided to have our lunch among one of the eateries facing the sea. it was quite a dusty day but the freshness of the seafood more than made up for the presence of the white powder in the air.

we took a boat going to the other side of the island. langub is connected to the city of sipalay but there are no roads (as what we've been told) going to that site. this is something that the local government should really look into if they want more tourists to visit this place, on second thought, i think it would be best if there are no roads so that there will be less tourists and less exposure of the island.

we took the cottage with three bedrooms and opened all the bedroom doors to make the living area cum dining area cooler. there was a fully furnished so cooking wasn't a problem. the kids were raring to swim so hardly had the dust settled when they were off to the beach. the water was at first cold but you get used to it after a short while. langub is definitely not boracay and thankfully so. yes, boracay is beautiful but it has been so overexposed and innundated with everything that shouts tourist!!! the beach doesn not have the picture perfect white sand but not it was not black either, kind of mocha i think. the beach was smooth, and there were no rocks at all so swimming on the shallow end was not a bummer.

the place is a haven for some divers and we saw some locals loading oxygen tanks to a waiting boat, probably for a diving expedition that day but we didn't get to see the divers. we were told that many europeans frequent the place and sure enough, we saw a catamaran with a swiss flag!!!

we brought a lot of food as advised by the langub contact person but the guys wanted fresh fish for breakfast. so poor nanay (bless her goodness) had to wake up early the following day and wait for the fishermen to bring in their haul. thankfully, there were some good catch and breakfast was fish caught by the locals and cooked over charcoal. yummy!!!! i'm not a fish person but seeing the guys salivating over the fresh fish made me try some of it too, hmmm, not bad.

we explored the shoreline and saw that there were a lot of other resorts, however, because it was february, we were the only filipinos there, we saw mostly europeans who looked like they have been there for quite sometime.

unfortunately, we had to go back to bacolod the following day but not without promising to return to langub in the very near future, and definitely staying longer than one night.
