as each day goes by, there are things that i wish i have done, learned, tried... you get the picture ...
i wish i learned to speak fookien fluently; coming from a mixed parentage, a chinese father and a filipino mother, this is one thing that i really regret. when i was younger, i hated speaking fookien because it marks you as different. i didn't want to be stared at when speaking fookien to my family or to my friends. all of us siblings look like our father, yellow skinned and slanted eyes. you could never tell that we are related to our mama because she is dark-skinned.
i wish that i had gotten to know my siblings better.... what are their likes, dislikes. now that three out of five of us are married and living thousands of miles from each other, i could only reminesce about the past.... there were lazy sunday afternoons where we would drink pineapple juice and eat butter cookies from fibisco
i wish i had travelled and explored the world at a younger age
i wish i had been more hands on in raising up our daughter instead of relying heavily on nanay although nanay did a good job at it
the list goes on....
the list goes on....
